Catch Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca's Top Fuel Dragster Exhibit
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is bringing a special exhibit to this year's Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, Sunday, April 29 at Half Moon Bay Airport.
The iconic 2.238-mile road racing course located in the scenic hillsides of the Monterey Peninsula will bring along a vintage Top Fuel dragster that will cackle on nitromethane to promote the upcoming Nitro Revival featured event that will take place during the upcoming Spring Classic vintage race May 18-20.
The IRON HORSE is a 1971 SPE chassis, 392 horsepower Chrysler engine, supercharged, fuel injected and runs on high percentages of nitromethane. It ran in the mid 6-second elapsed time range at 220 mph, won the inaugural Night Fire Nationals at Boise Idaho and qualified at all the NHRA national events in 1971. The dragster was featured in the 2012 Mercedes Benz E class TV commercial and has received numerous awards over the years since it was restored. The body was built by Tom Hanna and painted by Bill Carter. It’s nearly 100 percent original and is 100 percent period correct.
Tickets for the Nitro Revival event and other highly-anticipated events at Mazda Raceway such as Rennsport Reunion VI, Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship GEICO U.S. Round featuring MotoAmerica, Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, Pirelli World Challenge, and Ferrari Challenge will be on sale at the event at a discounted rate.
